The education system in Australia is divided into three broad categories which are primary, secondary and tertiary education.
Primary Education
It starts with kindergarten and continues for 7-8 years till grade 6-7
Secondary Education
This education is for four years till grade 8-10
Senior Secondary Education
It is for 2 years to complete grade 11 and 12
Tertiary Education
This education level includes higher education at the universities, vocational education and training (VET). Universities offer Bachelor’s, Graduate Certificates/Diplomas, Masters and Ph.D. degrees whereas TAFE institutes offer a wide range of certificates, diploma and advanced diploma programs which can be started after completion of secondary education.

There are 42 universities in Australia which includes
Group 8 universities: There are the most prestigious universities in Australia and are known for their academic excellence and research. These universities are best suited for the students with strong academics and aim to get in professional field or to do postgraduate studies
Public Universities: These are the universities other than the group 8 universities in the same category. Public universities are funded by the government and have maintained quality education standards.
Private Universities: Australia doesn’t have many private universities and has only 3 private universities. Bond UNiversity, University of Noter Dame and Torrens University Australia.
Institutes of Technology: These institutes are also the universities which fall under Australian Technology Network. They mostly focus on technical and professional education. To name a few are RMIT and Queensland Institute of Technology.
Technical and Further Education(TAFE) Institutions
These institutes provide vocational courses which include internships and work experience. These institutions are run by individual state governments. The students gain certificate or diploma qualification from TAFE institutions.

Students must show the availability of funds covering their first year tuition fee, living cost and travel airfare.
For example, if the tuition fee if AUD 30000, standard living cost would be AUD 21,041 and travel fare is AUD 2000. The total cost to be shown would be AUD 53041 which is approximately Rs. 30 lakhs.
