How To Apply To OXBRIDGE?

OXBRIDGE APPLICATION PROCESS

As an international student, you will have to meet the tough admission requirements, achieve success answering difficult interview questions and pass the required admission tests. You must also know that you cannot apply to both Oxford and Cambridge

Let’s go through the requirements first!

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

University of Oxford will need A*A*A* or AAA* in A-levels, 38-40points in IB and 95% and above in CBSE/ICSE boards. These requirements may vary from subject to subject and program to program.

University of Cambridge also has a similar requirements with AA*A* or AAA* in A levels, 40-42 points in IB and 95-97% in CBSE/ICSE which again vary from subject to subject and program to program.

Your grades must fall in the aforementioned categories to get the interview call followed by the conditional offer letter.

ADMISSION TESTS

These admission tests help OxBridge to differentiate between good and excellent student by testing their aptitude. The students have to select the specific test for the program they are applying to.

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD ADMISSION TESTS ARE
  • Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) for Physics, Material Science and Engineering
  • Oxford Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) for Psychology, Philosophy, Economics, Management and Geography
  • Mathematics Aptitude Test (MAT) for Computer Science and Math
  • National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT) for Law
  • History Aptitude Test (HAT) for History
  • English Literature Aptitude Test (ELAT) for English Literature and Language
  • Classics Admissions Test (CAT) for Classics
  • Modern Languages Admissions Tests (MLAT) for Languages
  • Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT) for Medicine and Biomedical Science
UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE TESTS ARE:
  • Cambridge Thinking Skills Assessment for Engineering, Computer Science and Economics
  • Physical and Biological Science
  • Cambridge Law Test for Law
  • Cambridge Language Test for Languages
  • Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT) for Medicine
OXBRIDGE INTERVIEW

Once you passed the initial level of the application and your admission tests, you will have to go through the final step of your OxBridge application which is an interview. The questions in the interview are focused on your interest and passion and what you have mentioned in your personal statement.

NOW LET’S MOVE ON TO THE TIMELINE

You need to start working on the application to OxBridge in your high school senior year.

June-July

August-September

  • Finalize your personal statement
  • Submit early application in September
  • Register for the required test

October-November

  • The final deadline to submit UCAS application is 15th October
  • Check if your college need any written work, the deadline to submit Oxford college word is 10th November and Cambridge, it’s 22nd October
  • The deadline to apply for University of Cambridge COPA is 19th October

December

  • Interview between 1-20 December if you are shortlisted

January

  • Get the decision
