WORKING IN AUSTRALIA

WORKING IN AUSTRALIA

Working in Australia is the most important factor amongst the international students to choose Australia as their study destination. International students studying in Australia want to work during their degree program but it is very important to know the rules to work in Australia.

WORKING DURING YOUR STUDIES

International students can work 20 hours per week while studying in the university and during the holidays they do not have to follow any limit.

The international students receive permission to work with their visa grant and so is for any family member accompanying the student. After you are granted a visa, you are allowed to travel 90 days prior to your course start date but you cannot start working till your course starts.

You will also have to open a bank account and file taxes if you are working in Australia. To open the bank account you will have to obtain a TFN which you may apply by visiting the tax office in Australia. The international students will receive the return after filing the tax.

Other important rules are that the student should enroll for the consistent program approved by the Australian government and should fulfill the requirements of the program. The student should also maintain the required attendance and overseas student health cover.

Your visa may get canceled if you work more than 20 hours per week or start working before your course begins.

As an international student, it may not be easy to get the job of your interest. Most likely you will get jobs like a babysitter, tutor, supermarket or cinema staff, cleaner, bartender, waiter, translator, etc.
